Homydrin® - Homatropine 2%
Sterile Eye Drops
Homydrin® is a sterile topical solution for ophthalmic use. Each 100 mL contains 2g Homatropine Hydrobromide with Benzalkonium Chloride as preservative.
Homatropine is an anti cholinergic agent that blocks the responses of the sphincter muscle of the iris and the accommodative muscle of the ciliary body to cholinergic stimulation, producing pupillary dilation (mydriasis) and paralysis of accommodation (cycloplegia).
Homydrin® is indicated for measurement of refractive errors. It is also indicated for pupil dilation and ciliary muscle relaxation, which are desirable in acute inflammatory conditions of the uveal tract.
Homydrin® may be indicated to produce mydriasis in some preoperative and post- operative conditions. It is also indicated as an optical aid in some cases of axial lens opacities.
Dosage and Administration:
Cycloplegic refraction: Instill 1 drop. May be repeated every 5 to 10 minutes if needed for 2 or 3 doses immediately prior to refraction.
Uveitis: Instill 1 drop 2 or 3 times a day. In some cases (individuals with heavily pigmented irides) a frequency of up to every 3 or 4 hours may be required.
Sina Darou Homydrin® Sterile Eye Drops are available as 2% solution in 10 mL plastic bottles with nozzle droppers and red pilfer proof caps.
